As Long As A Breath

a Bubblegum Horror
Novel

AS LONG AS A BREATH is Elle Woods as a true crime podcaster in a Buffy world.

Something’s off about her neighbor in apartment 510. His Italian He-Man appearance and old-world charm have most ladies falling (the British accent helps), but Stephanie, a true crime podcaster and newlywed, is sure he’s a murderer… or worse. But what could be worse?

When Stephanie sees Simon leave the apartment of a woman who is found dead the next morning from an apparent suicide and lies to the cops about when he last saw her, she hopes she’s stumbled upon a new, exclusive story. And, okay, perhaps a killer. Her parents’ senseless and unsolved murders fuel her passion to bring down killers and deliver justice to the families that she didn’t get in her own story. It’s why she started the podcast in the first place.

But since he lurks on the other side of her apartment wall, she must tread carefully. After committing a few crimes (it’s okay, she has her PI license, so a peeping tom charge could be classified as surveillance…but the breaking and entering, not so much), she witnesses a bloody scene that could only be described as supernatural. She finally confesses to her husband all that’s going on, and, with the cutest reluctance ever, he helps her uncover the truth (he is a cop after all) and attempt to stop Simon. Because he is way more than a killer, he’s more terrifying than the horror films she grew up loving.

Simon is always out for blood. Craves it. Plans for it. His playthings, both women and men, often die after first experiencing pure pleasure, so their blood makes them even. And his young neighbor, a child really, will not get the jump on him before he gets—kills—her first.

AS LONG AS A BREATH is a twisty, turn-y, just-when-you-think-you’ve-figured-it-out, you’re wrong, fresh take on supernatural lore with an unreliable narrator and a young, naïve, yet smart and funny heroine. It’s Denzel’s classic, Fallen, meets Only Murders in the Building and Kaley Cuoco’s Based on a True Story in a wild ride with an adorable love story and some spice thrown in. A multi-POV bubble-gum paranormal horror story complete at just shy of 87,000 words. Appealing to fans of Rachel Harrison, Jason Rekulak, and Grady Hendrix, it’s a bloody scary show with humor mixed in and unforgettable characters who you will love and hate.
